What We Believe

Scripture

We believe in the plenary and verbal inspiration of the Scripture, both of the Old and the New Testaments, and that they are inerrant in the original writings and are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

God

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (1 John 5:7; Matthew 28:19; Isaiah 48:16)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Matthew 1:19-25; Philippians 2:5,11; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7)

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present ministry there for us as High Priest and Advocate. (1 Corinthians 15:1-58; Acts 1:10-11; Hebrews 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2)

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature. (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7-9,15-17; Romans 5:12-18)

The Atonement

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. (1 Peter 1:18-19; 2:24; 3:18; Hebrews 10:1-20; Romans 3:23-24; Leviticus 17:11)

Last Things

We believe in that "blessed hope," the pre-Tribulational, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His church and the subsequent personal establishment of His earthly Millennial Kingdom. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51; 1 John 3:2-3; Matthew 24:30,36-44; Revelation 11:15; Psalm 2:8-9)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost. (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:10-15; 1 Corinthians 2:9; 2 Corinthians 4:14; Romans 8:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 21:4)

Salvation

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God. We believe that salvation must be by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Man is unable to contribute to his salvation in any way whatsoever. (John 1:12-13; 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 John 3:1-2; 5:1-2; Galatians 3:26)

Satan

We believe that Satan is real and personal. (Isaiah 14:12; Jude 9; 1 Peter 5:8-9; Matthew 4:1-11; Ephesians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10; Philippians 1:27)

Christian Life

We believe that believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are called to walk a holy life. (1 Peter 1:13-15; Titus 2:11-15; Ephesians 4:1; Romans 12:1-2; Philippians 1:27)

We believe in obedience to the Biblical commands to be separated unto God from worldliness and ecclesiastical apostasy. (2 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10; Ephesians 5:10-11; 2 Timothy 4:1-5; 1 Timothy 6:3-5; 2 Peter 2:1-22; Romans 16:17)

Civil Government

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience and the coming King of Kings. (Romans 13:7; 2 Samuel 23:3; Exodus 18:21-22; Acts 23:5; Matthew 22:21; Acts 4:19-20; 5:29; Daniel 3:17-18)

Israel

We believe in the sovereign selection of Israel as God's eternal covenant people, that they are now dispersed because of their disobedience and rejection of Christ, and that they will be regathered in the Holy Land, and after the completion of the church, will be saved as a nation at the Second Advent of Christ. The church has in no way replaced Israel. (Genesis 13:14-17; Romans 11:1-32; Ezekiel 37)

This is a statement in brief of our doctrinal beliefs. A more detailed statement can be found in our Church Constitution.
