~Helping Brazilians to Know God and to Make Him Known~
July 2004
Dear Faithful Prayer Supporters,
Natal, Brazil
We trust you all had a happy meaningful 4th of July remembering to thank
the Lord for the U.S.A. and the freedoms we have and remembering to
pray
for our dear country. We celebrated on Monday. We had 2 couples(for
those
who know Jerry and Lynda Neuman: their 2 oldest Nathan and Rachael who
live
here in Natal and their Brazilian spouses and little boy) over for
hamburgers and baked beans and the works and for a few fireworks. It
was
nice to celebrate with some other Americans and meaningful to sing some
patriotic songs together. This is the first time we celebrated here,
since
we kind of overlooked 4th of July last year.
July is a month of break from seminary here. Tim has
the grades just about
done except for a few stragglers from late papers. This month will be
a
break from teaching, but not a break from preparing for next semester.
He
wants to get a head start. My mom and Aunt Lorna will be coming to visit
in
September, so he wants to be ahead so he can take time to do things
together with them. It takes about 5 hours of study and preparation
for 1
hour of teaching. We'd also like to do some more visitation in the
neighborhood Nordeste that we have been having a Sat. children's meeting
and adult service.
There are many changes taking place this week. On Thurs.
our fellow ABWE
colleagues Steve and Carol Scruggs and 4 children will be returning
from
furlough for their 2nd term. And on Friday our other colleagues Dave
and
Dawn Spink and 4 children will be leaving for furlough. We had breakfast
with them this morning at a hotel overlooking the city while our girls
stayed with their girls. It was nice. Our other fellow ABWE colleagues
on
this field council Ron and Kathleen Weber and their 2 children are already
on furlough. Interesting enough each of these 4 families (us included)
consist of one spouse being a Brazilian MK.
Last week at the church camp a Deaf Dumb camp was held.
Through your gifts
we were able to provide for half of the food for the week. Praise the
Lord
for 5 that were saved! We are not directly involved in this ministry.
But
pray for their growth and discipleship.
*Pray for Tim in preparing for next semester
*Pray for Carlos' salvation (in whose garage we have the neighborhood
service)
*Pray for continued spiritual growth of the seminarians and preparation
for
service
*Pray for people who read the tracts we give
*Pray for the children's and adult service in the neighborhood Nordeste
*Pray for wisdom in what to say yes to. specifically if I should teach
English at the seminary or not.
We value your prayers for us, for Brazil, for the seminary,
the work in
the neighborhood Nordeste
.
Sincerely, Tim and Martia Franklin
