Dear Friends:
We have received the request via Harold, for information; and will attempt
to pass this on here. Let me also say that we want to thank you at every
opportunity for your support, especially in prayer, and for your interest
in our work over the years. We did send a thank you letter some days
ago which you should have by now; and there is a new prayer letter on
its way to you. You should have it any day now.
Next, you asked for a permanent message. Let's see, it can't relate
to our work here or it won't be permanent. Perhaps the best I can do
is as follows.
Missionaries everywhere are spread thin and repeatedly speak of the
need for more workers. Perhaps you sense a lack of sufficient harvesters
even in your corner of the field.
Sometimes we may think of this as a result of the materialistic age
in which we live; and there may be truth in that.
However, in his book on prayer, Andrew Murray referred to Jesus' prayer
request as the answer to the fact that the "labourers are few."
He directed us, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that
he will send forth labourers into his harvest." (Matt 9:38; repeated
in Luke 10:2, as if to emphasize the command.) Murray asked if we really
believe that the reason we do not see enough workers is that we do not
pray this request; and that, if we do, the need will be met? You might
want to listen next prayer meeting night and see if you do hear anyone
voice this request, given by our Lord himself. And, if not, be sure
to earnestly voice this request yourself.
