July 2004

Today we are celebrating our granddaughter, Holly’s, second birthday. At the same time, we are celebrating that Jim is alive and well! On Monday this week he was in an accident that totaled our van. It happened on a country road fairly close to home. A lady ran a stop sign and hit the back wheel of our van on the driver’s side. This caused the van to go into a spin and roll over after which it landed back on its feet. Jim was able to get out and walk away from it, but when the ambulance came they still took him to the hospital to check for back injuries. The x-rays didn’t show any breaks but, needless to say, he’s been extremely sore. However, we are very thankful that it wasn’t worse and that the family wasn’t with him when it happened. The lady who hit him is OK, too. Now we get to experience the frustration of trying to work with insurance companies to get our van replaced. Pray that God will help us find another reliable vehicle to use for the rest of our furlough time.

We are still waiting to hear from Immigration regarding my final citizenship appointment. It’s hard to make any future plans until that is completed. Meanwhile, we are still living in Racine. The Waukesha Bible Institute was unable to provide an apartment for us so we haven’t moved over there yet. We still hope to help out there in the coming months by just staying in a guest room for a few days each week. However, we’ll need a vehicle to do that, too!

Paul completed his Missions Institute training in Oregon and stopped by to visit us on his way to Michigan for the summer. We are excited that God has provided for him to continue his flight training to get his commercial pilot’s license. He’ll be heading to Missouri for Language School in August. Please continue to pray for him and also that God will provide for Karen and David and family. David still needs a steady job and they need a place to live.

This week we enjoyed a visit from my sister Barb and Marshall Siddall. As far as the near future goes, there is a possibility that we may be able to go to Honduras on a short missions trip in August with a couple from our church here in Racine. They are involved with a Spanish church there and invited us to go down with them on one of their visits. We also have an NTM leadership conference in Sanford in August. If my paperwork doesn’t come through any time soon, Jim may also make a visit to Bolivia in September to attend leadership meetings there. All these plans are tentative and we are waiting to see what God has in store for us!

Thanks for your friendship and prayers,

Millie & Jim
