WORD OF LIFE

Junior High and High School Youth Group

Click here for the current youth news.

Youth group at Grace Baptist Church is designed to teach solid Biblical truths and provide opportunities to apply these truths to our daily lives.

In a world dominated by change and evil temptations, teenagers need an immovable stronghold on which to cling. Biblical truth is that firm basis because it never changes. God's principles must be understood and be the foundation upon which lives can be built. Our focus is solely on the Word of God, the vast amount of truth that can be learned about Him and personal applications that can be made. Active participation is encouraged, both in daily Scripture reading and prayer. Memorization of the lessons' foundational verses leave lasting impressions in the minds of youths.

Studying God's Word
- with the assistance of the Word of Life program, we teach Biblical principle, which offer consistent application of these principles. This year our study focuses on the doctrine of Christ and the Church. Each year there is a different doctrine taught. The goal is that once a young person has gone through Junior High and High School they will have studied all ten major church doctrines.

Quiet Time books are also used to encourage youth to daily read God's Word. The books provide specific Scripture to study each day so youth can develop a life-long habit of daily Bible study and prayer. Journal pages are given so youth can write down the things which they are learning, which not only allows them to share their understanding with others, but also reflect on what the Lord has done in their lives.

This also helps the leader to encourage them and keep them accountable. There is also a Prayer Diary which is a personal testimony of how God has answered prayers in the lives of each person. Youth are encouraged to purchase a Quiet Time book, so they canfollow along and take notes during youth group lessons, as well as study the same teachings at home that are being covered at youth group meetings.

Additional Reading
- The youths are also encouraged to read books that will help them in their Christian life, such as, 31 Days with the Master Fisherman, a daily devotional on bringing Christ to others, and Pilgrim's Progress, which records the struggles of the Christian life. These books offer an abundant amount of principles helpful to youths facing a wicked world.

Ministry - As the youths learn and grow in their knowledge of God's teachings found in His Word, they are given the opportunities to act upon them. A wide variety of service opportunities are offered and available to willing youth who are committed to Christ and to sharing Him with others. Such areas of service include, once a month service at the Good News Rescue Mission, where the youth participate in singing, testimonies and the preaching of God's Word; helping in yard or house maintenance and clean-up for the elderly or sick; singing and sharing testimonies within church services; and witnessing. Youths are encouraged to live in a manner that will lead others to see Christ, and the difference He can make, through them.

Fun Activities - There are also many fun activities for the young people to get involved in, such as Super-bowl, Basketball Marathon, Gym Jams, and Teens Involved. All of these activities have an evangelistic purpose that gives our youth an opportunity to invite non-Christian friends to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ at a fun activity.
